Graphite / Colored Pencil A value study using narcissus such as paper whites or other multi-floral light colored narcissus and violas. Techniques for drawing white/light colored flowers in colored pencils and various values/intensity of color in both graphite and colored pencil. This will be a great journal study, and/or choose your favorite as a final drawing.

Botanical Art We will expand our medium trying out ViViVa Color Sheets, with tulips as the specimen. Compare the use of these color sheets to water colors, water color pencil and colored pencil! A fun NEW trial for us all! (Supplies provided)

Botanical Art Class with Catherine Watters

Clos Mirabel

Join Catherine Watters for one week of drawing and painting the incredibly diverse flora of Clos Mirabel, using watercolours to capture the colours and textures of the plants. Catherine will teach you how to carefully observe, measure and draw your subject focusing on form, light and texture. After composing your illustration, we will discuss the properties of watercolours and work on colour mixing.

The Tutor
Catherine Watters is a botanical artist and instructor with over 23 years of teaching experience throughout the U.S. and France. She co-developed the Botanical Art Certificate Program at Filoli, in Woodside, CA. Her paintings are held in several collections and florilegia around the world.
